Putin Inaugurates Massive LNG Terminal in Northern Siberia
Moscow Sets Sights on Global Gas Dominance
President Vladimir Putin officially opened a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the remote Arctic region of Yamal, marking a significant milestone in Russia's ambitious plans to become a major player in the global LNG market.
The Bovanenkovo LNG plant, operated by Russian energy giant Novatek, is the world's northernmost industrial facility and is expected to produce up to 20 million tons of LNG per year. The terminal is part of a larger project that includes a gas field and a 500-mile pipeline connecting it to the LNG plant.
