Kamui Kobayashi Slides Off Track, Toyota 7 Team Secures Victory

Toyota's GR010 Hybrid car, driven by Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway, and José María López, has secured victory at the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans in a dramatic and thrilling race.

The race was marred by an incident in the early hours when Kobayashi slid off the track, narrowly avoiding a major crash. However, the team was able to recover and Kobayashi returned to the race, setting a new fastest lap and closing the gap to the leaders.

In the final hour of the race, Kobayashi engaged in a fierce battle with the Ferrari of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Nicklas Nielsen. The two cars traded positions several times, but Kobayashi was ultimately able to hold on to take the win.

The victory is Toyota's fifth consecutive Le Mans win and their 10th overall. It is also Kobayashi's first Le Mans victory, making him the first Japanese driver to win the race.
